Sometimes, everyone needs a little dissonance.
the most artful pieces you’ve composed
are strengthened by their lack
of rhyming notes and slightly off kilter chords.
how much is too much,
and how much is good?
i’m unused to discerning this newer art.
give me a word and i will feel at home
in the carefully scripted curve and stark
yet unrefined meaning.
but you have breathed into me a melody,
and it flows with more grace than i knew to possess.
i think if you had written me perfectly
i wouldn’t deserve who i’d become.
but life is more
than harmonies, and sometime,
everyone needs a little dissonance.
